Here's a novel approach to combat performance enhancers: start an anti-drug campaign in a similar vain to "Just Say No," tag it "I Won't Cheat" and voila, kids will stay off the needles, cream and clear. Well, at least that's what Dale Murphy is hoping.

It's hard to pass judgment on the St. Louis Cardinals for their 7-1 loss to the Brewers tonight. Still, even through the worst events time and baseball march onwards. The Cardinals know that as well as anyone, and they took the field tonight wearing patches to honor Josh Hancock and playing with heavy hearts.

Think about that amount of money for a second. A small piece of cardboard from Mickey Mantle's 1951 rookie year with the New York Yankees just fetched that at a Chicago auction house. $160,000 is a record for a single Mantle card, and was a part of a huge sell-off by Evanston, Ill. collector Lionel Carter.

New York Yankees (8-12) vs. Boston Red Sox (14-7)-7:05PM Est. It's been entirely too long since we've had a chance to see these two teams play. Daisuke Matsuzaka will get another crack at the Yankees, but we'll see how successful he is in Yankee Stadium this time. Andy Pettite will take the mound for the Bombers, and if they get swept again by the

It's still yet to be determined if the Israel Baseball League is going to be any sort of a success. But, there seems to be a swell of excitement about it, and the sport continues to gain popularity in the country.

As we told you here on the Fanhouse yesterday, Torii Hunter is having a bad week. It all came to a head, or his head actually, on Thursday when he received a Zack Greinke fastball to his face. Hunter said after the game that Grienke apologized and is a nice guy, but that's not the reason he didn't charge the mound.

The New York Mets would probably prefer not to have any cheaters on their team, whether it be via steroids or HGH or what have you. The Mets would also like to make sure that there are no cheaters in the stands either ... tax cheaters, that is.

It's easy to forget that baseball is played by real human beings with real problems outside of their day jobs. Nationals teammates Robert Fick and Dmitri Young know from real problems. For one day anyway, they could lose their problems in a sea of happy Nationals after their first win of the season.

Daisuke Matsuzaka is probably the one player facing the most pressure this season: he's playing in Boston (which is pretty self-explanatory), there's an almost unprecedented amount of hype around him, and he's been rumored to have some kind of magical pitch in his repertoire. Of course with the pressure and stardom come the ads. He's getting an ice

After taking Padres starter Chris Young deep to left center in the first inning of the Giants second game of the season. It was a solo bomb, and particularly impressive since it went to the opposite field, just over the Emerald Nuts sign. If you remember last year, Bonds wasn't able to go oppo with as much power, so anyone who wants to see history

In my dissertation on why the Blue Jays are worth watching in 2007, I noted that, if they can stay healthy, Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett would represent one of the most potent -- if not the most potent -- one-two punches in the AL East. I still maintain that Burnett's gonna overcome the travesty that was his 2006 season, but his 2007 debut earlier

Then he threw 43 more - fastballs, curves, sliders and changeups. When the Japanese star was done, Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell gave him a positive review. "He's as advertised," Farrell said
